As the AI ecosystem shifts toward autonomous local agents (e.g., AutoGPT, Claude Computer Use, custom LLM tools), developers are amassing massive directories of "Skills"—snippets of Markdown (.md), JavaScript (.js), TypeScript (.ts), and Python scripts that give agents their capabilities.
From the repo.
The ultimate, lightning-fast, secure search engine and local management hub for AI Agent Skills.
Designed for AI developers, researchers, and engineers who manage massive local directories of tools, scripts, and prompts.
As the AI ecosystem shifts toward autonomous local agents (e.g., AutoGPT, Claude Computer Use, custom LLM tools), developers are amassing massive directories of "Skills"—snippets of Markdown (.md), JavaScript (.js), TypeScript (.ts), and Python scripts that give agents their capabilities.
The pain points:
SSearch is the elegant solution. It indexes your skills for sub-millisecond search, calculates token constraints, and features a powerful static analysis engine that flags unsafe commands before your agent executes them.
SSearch isn't just a backend tool—it features a stunning, state-of-the-art developer interface built with React and Tailwind v4.
We've designed SSearch to adapt to your workflow. Whether you need high information density or visual focus, the UI delivers.
Main Dashboard (List View)![]() Real-time skill search filtering with relevance sorting in Dark Mode. |
Main Dashboard (Light Mode)![]() Full support for crisp, readable light aesthetics across all views. |
Main Dashboard (Grid View)![]() Visual layout emphasizing skill descriptions and security badges. |
Main Dashboard (Compact View)![]() High-density list optimized for rapid scanning of hundreds of skills. |
Skill Details Modal![]() Displays raw Markdown and code content with full syntax highlighting. |
Search Keyword Highlighting![]() Real-time exact text highlighting across the high-density layout. |
Security Scan (Safe Skill)![]() Shows 0/100 risk score, token usage estimates, and trusted external links. |
Security Scan (Risky Skill)![]() Flags dangerous shell operations and system state modifications. |
Directory Settings![]() Manage multiple indexed skill directories and trigger auto-discovery. |
Add Skill Interface![]() Supports drag-and-drop file uploads or importing skills directly from URLs. |

The setup script automatically detects your Node.js version, installs all backend and frontend dependencies, compiles the production build, and registers the global command.
[1] Run in Background: Starts SSearch silently on port 12121 as a background daemon. Ideal for standard daily use.[2] Run in Terminal: Starts the server interactively. Debug logs, index operations, and scan events will stream directly to your terminal.Once running, the UI is available immediately at: http://localhost:12121

Q: Does SSearch send my skills to the cloud or use an external API?
A: Absolutely not. SSearch is a 100% offline-first application. Your code, API keys, and proprietary skills never leave your local machine. The security scanner is a local static analyzer.
Q: How do I change the directory it scans?
A: You can modify the root scan directory directly in the UI settings or by editing the DIR_TO_SCAN environment variable. SSearch will recursively map all subdirectories.
Q: Can I use it on macOS or Linux?
A: The core Node.js application is fully cross-platform. The .bat scripts are Windows-specific, but you can easily start the app on bash/zsh by running npm start in the server directory and npm run preview in the client directory.
SSearch is open-source and community-driven. If you are an AI developer looking to improve agent tooling, we welcome your contributions!
